I will update this page with a lot more information in time

Mea Spes Nova means "My new hope". When I got the opportunity to name this wonderful F1, I thought that My new hope was a suitable choice.
Nova is from NE Ohio and is part of the Maine Coon Foundation Preservation Project.

A farm in northern Ohio needed help with its cat population. Below directly translated from text from MCFP.
Although the farmers were more involved with their goats, sheep and rabbits, they had not closely monitored their cats and kittens until too many were hanging around. They decided to seek help to disperse the colony. The mother of a litter of kittens would be sterilized and kept.

She was truly a coon cat, strong beautiful tabby white, a long and rectangular body and an impressive tail with both fullness and length. The mother wasn't really interested in getting too close, but thankfully a photo or two was snapped before she embarked on a feeding mouse extravaganza. Her kittens would have to find a home. Two tabby girls (one toad) were called the "tabby twins" and were noted as energetic and full of fluff.

They were taken to MCFP for observation and testing. These females are now two F1 foundation cats of MCFP. The black tortoiseshell mackerel, Mea Spes Nova of MCFP, now lives with Malin Sundqvist (owner of the cattery Dagrivarn);
The black mackerel, Bratty Catty of MCFP, lives with Olivia Speiche (one of the founders of MCFP and owner of the cattery Kitty in the City).
